“Love………more than an emotion”
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.~(I Corinthians13:4-8)
1 Corinthians shows us the importance of Love. Jesus did not waiver where this command was concerned and held it to the highest of standards for those who choose to follow Him. We must use this command to the best of our own natural ability, and trust that Jesus will reveal ways for us to extend love in our inner-most circles! Married love, one of the unique forms of Love, gives us daily ways to forgive our husband/wife, as well as show unconditional love to our families. In these verses none of those commands had no correlation to how we feel as Husband and Wife, it was connected to our hearts. “Love, even when you don’t feel like it” –Unknown Marriage allows for men and women to walk in the command of being patient, kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud or rude to one another. These feelings and negative characteristics take away from the Holy Spirit moving in and through our lives to make our married love grow and transform. “Love is an action verb”,
this quote clearly encompasses what Jesus was speaking of when he “charged” all of those who believe in Him to Love. We must Love, and Love with action. We must not demand our own way, not irritate or segregate one another. We must not keeping any records of wrongs. We must walk upright in Love, even if we do not agree…….after all Love conquers all! As you read those commands did you take a deep breathe, and immediately check your heart?? Good, we did too! ♥
Husbands and Wives have to abide by these commands daily in order to reach the full potential and fulfillment that God’s idea for Marriage has to offer. Take the scripture from 1 Corinthians and write it on your heart, maybe even write it on piece of paper and place it where you can see it every day. This is a command that adds value to your unique position as a faithful follower of Christ, as well as a faithful committed covenant husband/wife to your own marriage. As you depend on God’s love to lead the way Peace and Patience in marriage is sure to follow.
Choose today that your marriage will not grow cold, or stagnant based upon your inability to love unconditionally. Make a decision to dive into seeking and finding those feelings that created the love that you both shared in the beginning. Find new places, new behaviors, new needs, new kisses, and new ideas that you can introduce to your wife/husband today, and trust that God’s love will guide you both the many ideas and blessings that was created uniquely for your life in marriage from this day forward.
